A free online screen recorder for how-to videos, capturing an online meeting or webinar, or grabbing gameplay or a browser tab — with no software to install and nothing uploaded. Press Choose screen & start, pick the whole screen, a window or a tab, and recording begins; press Stop recording (or the browser's own Stop sharing) and the MP4 is ready on the spot. Most web recorders save WebM files that PowerPoint or an iPhone won't open, or make you convert afterwards; this one encodes to H.264/AAC live via WebCodecs, so the MP4 is ready to share or edit immediately. Audio options: system/tab audio (available when you share a browser tab, or the whole screen on Windows) and microphone — turn both on and they're mixed into one track. Pick the quality (Balanced/High) and frame rate (30/60 fps). The key difference: the recording is encoded entirely in your browser and never uploaded, so internal screens and personal data stay private, and there is no time limit or watermark. Long recordings live in memory until saved, so splitting at a few tens of minutes is recommended. A recent desktop Chrome or Edge is recommended (mobile browsers can't capture the screen).

FAQ
Is the recording uploaded?
No. Capturing, encoding and saving all happen inside your browser on your device — nothing is sent to or stored on a server, so internal systems and personal data on screen stay private.
Can it record audio (system sound and microphone)?
Yes. System/tab audio is captured when you share a browser tab (on Windows, Chrome and Edge also offer 'Share system audio' when sharing the whole screen). Sharing a single window may not provide system audio due to OS limits. Turn on microphone to mix your voice with the system audio into one track.
Does it save MP4, not WebM?
MP4 (H.264/AAC) by default. It encodes with WebCodecs while recording, so the file works in PowerPoint, on iPhone and on social platforms without conversion. Browsers that can't encode H.264 fall back to WebM (VP9/Opus) automatically; you can also choose WebM on purpose.
Is there a time limit?
No limit from the tool. The recording is held in memory until you save, though, so very long sessions (tens of minutes to an hour or more) can run out of memory — stop and save, then start again. Closing the tab discards an in-progress recording.
Which browsers and devices are supported?
A recent desktop Chrome or Edge (or another Chromium browser). Both screen capture (getDisplayMedia) and video encoding (WebCodecs) are required; iPhone and Android browsers can't capture the screen. Safari and Firefox may record but produce WebM instead of MP4.
Can I edit the recording?
Yes — the finished MP4 can go straight into the Video Trim tool to cut the ends, Video Compress to make it smaller, or Video Mosaic to blur anything private, all in the browser as well.
