A workload calculator with three modes for different jobs. (1) Convert units: enter an effort in person-hours, person-days or person-months and see it expressed in the other two units (e.g. 10 person-days → how many person-hours and person-months). (2) Sum workload: enter each task (requirements, design, build, …) with its own amount and unit, and it converts everything to the unit you pick (hours/days/months) and totals it — like a workload table. (3) People & duration: enter the total workload and a head-count to get the duration (in months and person-days), or enter a duration to get the people needed (good for a rough person-month estimate). You can change the basis used for conversion — hours per day (default 8) and days per month (default 20) — to match your team. Workload values and task names are never uploaded; everything is calculated in your browser. This tool only does the arithmetic of workload (time, person-days, person-months); it does not calculate cost or rates.
How to use
- Pick a mode at the top: Convert units, Sum workload, or People & duration.
- If needed, change the basis (hours per day, days per month) to match your team.
- Enter workload, people or duration and results update instantly (normalized across hours/days/months).
FAQ
How are person-months, person-days and person-hours converted?
They are converted using the hours-per-day and days-per-month basis at the top. The defaults are 1 person-day = 8 hours and 1 person-month = 20 person-days (= 160 hours). Change those numbers to match your company or project and every mode uses the new basis.
Can I total tasks that use different units?
Yes. In Sum workload mode each task has its own unit (person-hours / person-days / person-months). The total is converted to the unit you choose, so a mix of person-days and person-months adds up correctly.
Can I estimate how many people and months a project needs?
In People & duration mode, enter the total workload (e.g. 12 person-months) and a head-count to get the duration (months and person-days), or enter a duration to get the people needed. It is a simple even-split estimate and does not account for ramp-up or coordination overhead, so treat it as a rough guide.
Does it show cost, and are my inputs stored?
This tool only does the arithmetic of workload (time, person-days, person-months); it does not compute cost or rates. Workload values and task names are never sent to a server and are not saved (only settings such as the basis and mode are stored on your device for next time, and can be cleared with Reset).
