See your Japanese annual paid-leave (nenkyu) grant schedule from just the date of joining — entirely in your browser. Pick the scheduled working days per week (5+ days or 30+ hours = standard grant; 4, 3, 2 or 1 day = proportional grant), then enter the date of joining and an as-of date (defaults to today). The tool builds a quick-reference table under Article 39 of Japan's Labour Standards Act: the first grant is 6 months after joining, then once a year. It lists the grant date and days granted for each service length (6 months, 1y6m, 2y6m, …), and shows your next grant date and days prominently at the top. Standard grants start at 10 days at 6 months and rise to the cap of 20 days from 6.5 years; part-time staff working 4 days or fewer and under 30 hours a week get a proportional grant (e.g. 7 days at 6 months for 4 days a week). Click "Print / Save PDF" to print at A4 actual size or save as PDF. Your name and dates are never uploaded or stored — all calculation happens on your device — and only the working-days setting and accent color are remembered. Note: this shows grant days only; actual grants require at least 80% attendance over the preceding year (assumed here), unused leave expires 2 years after it is granted, and no monetary amounts (wages) are calculated.

How to use

  1. Pick the scheduled working days per week in the toolbar (5+ days or 30h+ is the standard grant; 4 days or fewer is proportional).
  2. Enter the name (optional), date of joining and as-of date (defaults to today) to build the grant-days table automatically.
  3. Check the next grant date and days at the top, then click "Print / Save PDF" to print at A4 actual size or save as PDF.

FAQ

When and how many paid-leave days are granted?

Under Japan's Labour Standards Act, the first grant is 6 months after joining, then once a year. For a standard grant (5+ days or 30+ hours per week): 10 days at 6 months, 11 at 1y6m, 12 at 2y6m, 14 at 3y6m, 16 at 4y6m, 18 at 5y6m, and the cap of 20 days from 6y6m onward. Enter the date of joining and the tool lists each grant date and number of days.

Does it handle part-time / proportional grants?

Yes. Staff working 4 days or fewer and under 30 hours a week receive a proportional grant. Choose 4, 3, 2 or 1 day per week in the toolbar and the tool uses that schedule's day counts — for example, 5 days at 6 months for 3 days a week. Those working 5+ days or 30+ hours get the standard grant.

What is the maximum, and do days expire?

The maximum granted at once is 20 days (standard grant, 6y6m onward, every year). Unused leave expires 2 years after it is granted, so the most you can hold is the current year's plus the previous year's grant if both are unused. This tool is a grant-days reference and does not track usage, carry-over or money.

Are there conditions for the grant?

Yes. Each grant requires at least 80% attendance over the preceding year (the first 6 months for the initial grant). This tool assumes that requirement is met. In a year where attendance is below 80%, leave may not be granted, so confirm final figures with your employer's work rules and labor-management agreement.

Do I need to sign up or install anything, and is it free?

No. There is no account and no software to install, and no spreadsheet formulas to build. Just enter the date of joining. Everything runs in your browser and is free. Your name and dates are never uploaded or stored — only the working-days setting and accent color are remembered on this device. This tool covers grant days only; it does not calculate paid-leave wages.
