Drop or click to replace

A converter for the HEIC format that iPhones and iPads use by default (High Efficiency Image, .heic / .heif) — for when Windows or another app cannot open or accept those files. HEIC keeps file sizes small, but Windows often cannot open it without an extra paid extension, and many email clients, marketplaces and web forms reject it. With this tool you just drag and drop (or multi-select) your photos and each one is converted to JPG or PNG; save them individually or click "Download all (ZIP)". You can pick the output format (JPG / PNG) and the JPG quality, and your choice is remembered for next time. Each HEIC is decoded once and then re-exported, so changing the quality slider or format updates instantly. The HEIC data is read entirely on your device (with JavaScript and the libheif WebAssembly decoder) and your images are never uploaded, stored, or sent to any server — which also means it works on locked-down work computers where you cannot install software. Use Convert when you want to fine-tune a single image's format, Compress to shrink file size, or Batch EXIF Strip to remove location data from photos.

How to use

  1. Drop the HEIC / HEIF photos you want to convert all at once (or click to multi-select).
  2. Pick the output format (JPG / PNG), and the quality for JPG. Each photo is converted in turn and its new size is shown.
  3. Download photos one by one, or click "Download all (ZIP)" to save them together. Nothing is sent anywhere.

FAQ

Are my photos uploaded or stored anywhere?

No. Decoding the HEIC and converting it to JPG/PNG happen entirely in your browser (with JavaScript and the libheif WebAssembly decoder). Your images are never uploaded, sent, or stored on a server. No network request is made, so even private photos are safe to convert.

Windows can't open HEIC. Do I need to install anything?

No. You don't need a paid Microsoft Store extension or a separate program — just open this page and convert HEIC to JPG/PNG. There's nothing to install and no sign-up, so it also works on work computers where you can't install software.

Can I convert many photos at once?

Yes. Drag and drop (or multi-select) your HEIC photos and they are all converted in turn. Save them in one go with "Download all (ZIP)", or download each file individually.

Should I choose JPG or PNG?

JPG is the usual choice for photos because the files are smaller. Choose PNG if you need maximum quality, transparency, or graphics. For JPG you can adjust the compression with the quality slider, and the resulting file size is shown.

Does the quality drop?

The HEIC is fully decoded before export, so the resolution (pixel dimensions) is preserved. JPG is lossy, so very low quality will degrade the image, but at the default (92%) it looks essentially the same. Choose PNG if you want to avoid any lossy compression.
