Seating chart
Layout

Build a classroom or office seating chart and print or save it as PDF entirely in your browser — for anyone who wants a free seating chart maker instead of building one by hand in Excel, or who wants to shuffle seats at random. Enter one name per line and set the number of rows and columns; names fill the seat grid in reading order (top-left to the right, row by row). When you have fewer names than seats, the extras are shown as empty (dashed) seats. Click "Shuffle seats" to randomly reorder the names and re-place them — handy as a random seat picker, used as many times as you like. Turn on "Show front bar" to add a label above the grid for the board / front of the room (the label is free text, defaulting to "Board"). Choose "View from front (mirror)" to flip the columns left-to-right, matching how the room looks from the front. Turn on "Seat numbers" to print a running number in each seat's corner. Add a note below the grid and it prints with the chart. Click "Print / Save PDF" to open the print dialog at A4 actual size, then print or choose "Save as PDF". Your names are never uploaded or stored — everything happens on your device — and only the rows, columns, front-bar / mirror / seat-number toggles and accent color are remembered (names, title, front label and note are not saved).

How to use

  1. Enter one name per line and set the number of rows and columns (names fill the seat grid in reading order).
  2. Optionally click "Shuffle seats" to randomize, and toggle the front bar, view-from-front (mirror) and seat numbers.
  3. Click "Print / Save PDF" to print at A4 actual size or choose "Save as PDF".

FAQ

Do I need to sign up or install anything, and is it free?

No. There is no account and no software to install, and no Excel template to hunt for. Everything runs in your browser and is free. Your names are never uploaded or stored — only the rows, columns, front-bar / mirror / seat-number toggles and accent color are remembered on this device.

Can I shuffle the seats at random?

Yes. Click "Shuffle seats" to randomly reorder the names and re-place them on the grid. You can press it as many times as you like, so it works as a random seat picker, and once you are happy you can print the chart or save it as PDF at A4.

Does it support the front of the room and a mirrored view?

Yes. "Show front bar" adds a label above the grid for the board / front of the room (the label is free text). "View from front (mirror)" flips the columns left-to-right so the layout matches how the seats look when viewed from the front of the room.

Can I change the grid size or show seat numbers?

You can set the number of rows and columns independently, and a grid of that size is created. When there are fewer names than seats the extras appear as empty (dashed) seats. Turn on "Seat numbers" to print a running number in each seat's corner.

Can I print it or save as PDF?

Click "Print / Save PDF" to open the print dialog at A4 actual size, then print or choose "Save as PDF". The format is a title above an optional front bar and the rows-by-columns seat grid with a name in each filled seat.
