A cash denomination calculator for preparing cash, making change, and counting a till. Three modes: (1) Breakdown — enter an amount to get the minimum count of each bill and coin ($100 down to 1¢), with a subtotal per denomination and the total piece count. (2) Denomination table — add a row per person with a name and amount to get every person's denomination counts in one table, plus a prep total at the bottom showing how many of each denomination you need overall and the grand total (handy for paying wages or stipends in cash). (3) Count cash — enter how many of each denomination you have to get the subtotal per denomination and the grand total (for checking a till, safe, or collection). Each table has a "Copy (TSV)" button so you can paste straight into Excel or Google Sheets — no template download needed. Amounts and names are never uploaded or saved; everything is calculated in your browser. The breakdown uses standard denominations and the largest-first (minimum-count) method.
How to use
- Pick a mode at the top: Breakdown, Denomination table, or Count cash.
- For Breakdown enter an amount; for the table add a name and amount per row; for Count cash enter how many of each you have.
- Results update instantly (the table also shows a prep total per denomination). Hit "Copy (TSV)" to paste into Excel.
FAQ
Can it break an amount into the fewest bills and coins?
Yes. In Breakdown mode, enter an amount and it shows the minimum count of each denomination from $100 down to 1¢, with a subtotal per denomination and the total piece count, using the largest-first method.
Can I build a denomination table for several people with a prep total?
Yes. In Denomination table mode, add a row per person with a name and amount. It lists each person's denomination counts in one table and adds a prep total at the bottom — how many of each denomination you need overall — plus the grand total amount.
Can I export the result to Excel?
Yes. Each mode has a "Copy (TSV)" button that copies the table as tab-separated values, so you can paste it straight into Excel or Google Sheets — no template download or formulas to set up.
Are the amounts I enter stored or uploaded?
No. Amounts and names are never sent to a server and are not saved; everything runs in your browser (only the mode and the $2-bill toggle are stored on your device for next time, and can be cleared with Reset).
