Bag size & weight
3 sides total—
Rules are a guide(major rules as of 2024 (estimate; varies by fare and route))。
Before a trip, checking whether your cabin bag is within the limit, or whether your checked suitcase stays inside the free allowance, means hopping between airline pages and comparing numbers. This tool lets you enter your bag's three sides (length, width, depth in cm) and weight (kg) once, then checks it against the rules of the main airline groups, showing for both carry-on and checked baggage whether it fits or is over (with the reason). It covers ANA and JAL domestic flights (the carry-on total differs between aircraft with 100+ seats and smaller aircraft under 100 seats) and international economy, the LCCs Peach, Jetstar and similar carriers (domestic and international), and the common international economy size used by many airlines. Carry-on is judged on three conditions — each side, the sum of the three sides, and weight — while checked baggage is judged in order: can it be checked at all (size and per-piece weight limit), then is it free or subject to an overweight fee. When a carrier has no free checked allowance, like an LCC, it shows "Paid (no free allowance)". The three sides can be entered in any order; the tool sorts them and matches each against the limits. Pick a common bag from "Example" (cabin S, medium/large suitcase, duffel, backpack) to fill the fields fast. The rules are a guide based on the main figures as of 2024; the exact free allowance varies by fare, route and elite status, so always confirm the latest rules via each card's "Official" link. The size and weight you enter are computed only inside your browser and are never sent to any server.
How to use
- Enter the bag's three sides (length, width, depth) in cm and its weight in kg. Pick a common bag from "Example" to fill the fields fast.
- Switch between "Domestic" and "International" to see, for each airline group, the verdict for carry-on and checked baggage.
- If something is over, check the reason (a side, the total, or weight) and open the card's "Official" link for the latest rules.
FAQ
Are the bag's size and weight I enter sent to a server?
No. All the rule checks happen entirely in your browser; the three sides and weight you enter are never uploaded, stored, or transmitted. It works fully locally.
Why are ANA / JAL split into two rows for domestic flights?
On domestic flights the carry-on limit depends on the aircraft's seat count. Aircraft with 100 or more seats allow up to 115 cm total (55×40×25 cm), while smaller aircraft under 100 seats allow up to 100 cm total (45×35×20 cm). If you don't know your aircraft, fitting the smaller limit (under 100 seats) is the safe bet.
Which side should I enter as the depth?
The order of the three sides doesn't matter. The tool sorts them and checks each against the per-side and total limits. For a suitcase, measure the external dimensions including the handle and wheels to be safe.
What does "Paid (no free allowance)" mean?
LCCs such as Peach and Jetstar have no free checked-baggage allowance; checking a bag costs extra (usually cheaper if booked in advance). As long as the size and weight are within the checked limits the bag can be accepted, but a fee applies.
As of when are these rules?
They are a guide based on the main figures as of 2024. The number of free pieces and the free weight vary by fare, route and elite status, and rules can change. Always confirm the latest rules via each card's "Official" link before you pack.
