A word search generator that turns your own list of words into a printable puzzle. It hides each word horizontally, vertically or diagonally in the grid and fills the rest with random filler letters. The difficulty setting controls the placement directions: Easy uses across and down only, Medium adds diagonals, and Hard also places words backwards (right-to-left and bottom-to-top) across all eight directions. Filler letters can be A–Z, hiragana or katakana, so you can make English vocabulary worksheets or Japanese kana puzzles for kids. Choose a grid size from 10×10 to 18×18, and tick "Include answer key" to also output a solution sheet with the hidden words marked. Press Print and only the puzzle is laid out cleanly on the page; you can also save it as a PDF. Titles and words are never uploaded — everything runs in your browser.

How to use

  1. Enter the words you want hidden, one per line.
  2. Pick the grid size, difficulty and filler letters (A–Z, hiragana or katakana), and tick Include answer key if you want a solution.
  3. Press Generate to build the puzzle, then Print to print it (or save as PDF).

FAQ

What does the difficulty setting change?

It changes the directions words are hidden in. Easy places words across and down only, Medium adds diagonals, and Hard also hides them backwards (right-to-left and bottom-to-top) in all eight directions, which is harder to spot. Use Easy for young children and Hard for adults.

Can I make a word search with my own words?

Yes. Type your words one per line and press Generate. Each word is hidden in the grid and the rest is filled with random letters. Words listed below the grid are the ones to find. If a word is too long for the grid, it is skipped with a notice — use a bigger grid or shorter words.

Can I print an answer key?

Tick "Include answer key" before generating and a solution sheet is added below the puzzle, with the hidden words marked. Print lays out both the puzzle and the answer key on the page, so you can prepare a handout and a key together.

Are my words and titles stored or uploaded?

Words and titles are never sent to a server and are not saved. Everything runs in your browser (only settings like grid size, difficulty and filler letters are stored on your device for next time, and can be cleared with Reset).
