Stamp a watermark like "CONFIDENTIAL" across every page. Choose the text, layout, size, opacity and color. The original text stays selectable and nothing is uploaded.

Drop or click to replace

Add a watermark to a PDF, completely free. Drag and drop a PDF and each page is shown as a preview so you can see exactly how the watermark lands while you adjust the settings. Type any text — "CONFIDENTIAL", "DRAFT", "DO NOT COPY", a client or project name, or even Japanese — and it is rendered without installing any fonts. Choose a layout: diagonal (one large mark across the center), tiled (repeated across the whole page), or horizontal (centered). Size, opacity and color are all adjustable. When you click "Download watermarked PDF", a new PDF is saved with the watermark drawn on top while the original page content is preserved — unlike a redaction tool, pages are not rasterized, so the text stays selectable, searchable, and copyable. Rotated pages are handled too, so the watermark appears in the correct place and orientation on every page. Adding the watermark happens entirely in your browser with JavaScript (pdf.js / pdf-lib); the PDF is never uploaded, stored, or sent to a server. There's nothing to install and no sign-up, so it's safe for confidential documents and pre-release drafts. To add page numbers instead, use Add Page Numbers to PDF; to place a seal or stamp, use PDF Stamp; to truly remove confidential content, use PDF Redaction.

How to use

  1. Drag and drop a PDF. You can also click to choose a file. Each page is shown as a preview.
  2. Type the watermark text, such as "CONFIDENTIAL". Any language works, including Japanese.
  3. Pick a layout (diagonal, tiled, or horizontal) and set the size, opacity and color. The preview updates live.
  4. Click "Download watermarked PDF". The watermark is added while the original text is preserved, and your PDF is never sent anywhere.

FAQ

Can I put a diagonal watermark on every page, or tile it across the page?

Yes. Choose "Diagonal" for one large mark across the center, "Tiled" to repeat it across the whole page, or "Horizontal" for a centered line. The same watermark is applied to every page of the loaded PDF, and you can tune the size, opacity and color to go from a faint full-page tile to a single bold stamp.

Does adding a watermark make the original text unreadable?

No. This tool keeps the original PDF content intact and only draws the watermark on top. Unlike a redaction tool, pages are not flattened to images, so the text stays selectable, searchable, and copyable. Lower the opacity to keep the body text easy to read through the watermark.

Can I use non-English text like Japanese?

Yes. The watermark is rendered to an image first and then layered onto the PDF, so any text — including Japanese, accents, or symbols — works without installing or embedding fonts.

Is the PDF I load uploaded to a server?

No. Rendering the pages (pdf.js) and adding the watermark (pdf-lib) all run in your browser with JavaScript. The PDF is never uploaded, stored, or sent to a server, and there's nothing to install, so it's safe for confidential documents.

What if I want page numbers or a stamp instead?

To add page numbers, use Add Page Numbers to PDF. To place a seal or confirmation stamp, use PDF Stamp. To truly remove confidential content, use PDF Redaction.
