A golden hour calculator for photographers. Choose a city preset, type a latitude and longitude, or tap "Use my location" to read your device's position, then pick a date and it shows the morning and evening golden hour (when the sun is roughly between −4° and +6°, giving soft, warm light), the blue hour (sun roughly between −6° and −4°, when the sky turns deep blue), plus sunrise, sunset, solar noon (when the sun is highest, around midday) and the length of the day. Change the date to plan any day's magic hour for a trip, a location scout, a wedding shoot, or landscape, astro and portrait photography. Everything is computed from the sun's position right on your device — your latitude and longitude, or the location returned by "Use my location", are never sent to any server or API. Times are shown in your device's time zone.
How to use
- Pick a place (preset) or enter a latitude and longitude ("Use my location" can read your device's position too).
- Choose the date you want to shoot (defaults to today).
- Read off the morning/evening golden and blue hours, sunrise, sunset, solar noon and day length (your location is not sent).
FAQ
Is my location sent anywhere?
No. The sun-position calculations all run in your browser. The latitude and longitude you type, or the position from "Use my location", are never sent to any server or API — everything stays on your device.
What's the difference between golden hour, blue hour and magic hour?
Here golden hour is when the sun is roughly between −4° and +6° (soft, warm light), and blue hour is when it is between −6° and −4° (the sky turns deep blue). "Magic hour" is the umbrella term for both — the twilight period just before sunrise and after sunset.
Can I calculate any date or a travel destination?
Yes. Change the date to get the golden/magic hour for any day, and besides the presets you can enter any latitude and longitude to calculate anywhere in the world.
Which time zone are the times shown in?
They are shown in your device's (browser's) time zone. That matches when you calculate your own area, but note the times may differ from local time when you calculate a place in a different time zone abroad.
