Your audio is decoded, converted and encoded entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded. WAV is lossless; MP3 is re-encoded with LAME. Input: MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG and more (whatever your browser can decode).

An audio converter that changes the format of an audio file to MP3 or WAV. Drag and drop or choose an MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG or other file (whatever your browser can decode), pick the output format — MP3 (re-encoded with LAME at 128–320 kbps) or WAV (lossless, uncompressed) — and convert and download it. You can also change the sample rate (keep original / 44100 / 48000 / 22050 Hz) and channels (keep / mono / stereo). Use it to shrink a WAV by converting it to MP3, turn an M4A into a more compatible MP3, standardize files to WAV for an editor, or unify the format of clips for streams and videos. WAV writes the original audio as-is, so it's lossless; MP3 lets you pick a bitrate for a smaller file. Decoding, converting and encoding all happen entirely in your browser — the file is never uploaded, stored or sent to a server. No install, no sign-up, free to use.

How to use

  1. Drop an audio file (MP3 / WAV / M4A / OGG and more) or use "choose a file" to load it.
  2. Pick the output format (MP3 / WAV), and change the bitrate, sample rate or channels if you want.
  3. Click "Convert & download" to save the converted file.

FAQ

Is my audio file uploaded?

No. The audio you load is decoded, converted and encoded inside your browser — it is never uploaded, stored or sent to a server. Everything runs locally.

Which formats can I load, and what can I export?

Input can be MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG and more — whatever your browser can decode. Output can be MP3 (choose 128–320 kbps) or WAV (lossless, uncompressed).

Does converting WAV to MP3 lose quality?

MP3 is a compressed format, so re-encoding loses a little quality, but a higher bitrate (256–320 kbps) keeps it minimal. Converting MP3 back to WAV won't restore quality beyond the original MP3 — it just makes the file larger.

Can I change the sample rate or make it mono?

Yes. You can choose the sample rate (keep / 44100 / 48000 / 22050 Hz) and channels (keep / mono / stereo). Making it mono shrinks the file further.

Can I cut out just part of the audio?

This tool converts the whole file's format. To cut out a specific section on the waveform, use the Audio Trimmer / MP3 Cutter instead.
