The tuner uses your microphone with browser pitch detection (autocorrelation). Audio is analysed on your device only — nothing is recorded, uploaded or sent anywhere. Works for acoustic and electric guitar, bass and other instruments. Best in a quiet room, one string at a time.

A free online guitar tuner that works in your browser using your microphone. Tap "Start microphone" and allow access, then play one string at a time: autocorrelation pitch detection finds the fundamental frequency and shows the nearest note, octave, cents (how sharp or flat you are) and the frequency in Hz. When the needle sits in the centre and you're within ±5 cents, you're in tune. Choose Standard tuning (E A D G B E) or Drop D, half step down (E♭), Drop C, Open G, DADGAD, four-string bass or ukulele — the open strings of the chosen tuning are shown and the string you're playing is highlighted automatically. The reference pitch is adjustable from A4 = 438–444Hz so you can match a band or recording. Switch to Chromatic mode to show the nearest note for any pitch, handy for other instruments or checking your voice. Works for acoustic and electric guitar and bass; it's most accurate in a quiet room playing one string at a time. All microphone analysis happens entirely on your device, inside the browser — nothing is recorded, stored, uploaded or sent to a server. No install, no sign-up, free to use.

  3. Play one string at a time and turn the peg until the needle is centred and cents reads 0.

FAQ

Is my microphone audio uploaded?

No. Pitch detection runs entirely inside your browser — the microphone audio is never recorded, stored, uploaded or sent to a server. Everything is local.

Does it work for acoustic, electric, bass and ukulele?

Yes. There are tunings for acoustic and electric guitar, four-string bass and ukulele. Chromatic mode also lets you check the pitch of other instruments or your voice.

Can I use Drop D or half step down?

Yes. Besides Standard, you can choose Drop D, half step down (E♭), Drop C, Open G and DADGAD. The open strings of the tuning are shown and the string you play is highlighted.

Can I change the reference pitch (Hz)?

Yes. A4 can be set from 438 to 444Hz. The default is 440Hz, but you can tune to 442Hz or another reference to match a band or recording.

What if it isn't detecting well?

Play one string at a time, clearly, in a quiet room. Strumming several strings at once or background noise makes detection unstable. Moving closer to the mic helps too.
